CIGRE includes two categories of members.
Individual members in the engineering, teaching or research professions as well as of other professions involved in the Industry (lawyers, economists, regulators...).
Collective members who consist of public or private Companies, of industrial and/or commercial character, and scientific or technical Organisations, Research institutes, Educational and administrative bodies.
The most important benefit of joining CIGRE is unrestricted access to knowledge base contained in publications of CIGRE and possibility to exchange information relating to operation of electric power systems worldwide, through formal and informal contacts. These advantages are usually available to all staff under collective members, as a recognition for contribution to the Association.
Besides from the above, members are entitled to free delivery of the ELECTRA Journal, which publishes the results of work performed by the CIGRE, and they may become main authors of papers at Sessions, they may take part in technical projects under CIGRE and especially, they may be appointed members of the Study Committees, they would have access to papers reserved to members of CIGRE only, and would have reduced registration fees for Sessions and Symposia of CIGRE, etc.
